Resumo da conferência:

Variation in genotypes and phenotypes is a feature of essentially all traits, in essentially all organisms. Understanding the mechanisms that produce this variation is the focus of much current research in biology. Work in evolutionary developmental biology, in particular, combines methods and approaches from two areas to dissect the genetic and developmental basis of variation and diversification in adaptive phenotypes. I will talk about on-going research focused on the mechanisms behind two key processes contributing to morphological diversity in animals: the diversification of serially repeated traits and the origin and modification of novel traits.
